FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Does my child need any
previous performance
or dance experience?
In all the groups except for Encore students do not need any previous
experience. The only requirement is that the child be of the correct age
and attend regularly.
If my child
misses a class/classes, are there make-up classes?
There are no make-up classes and tuition is NOT pro-rated for missed
classes.
What should my
child wear to class?
Students in show choir and hip hop classes MUST wear sneakers or dance
shoes…NO flip flops or bare feet, please. This is for your children’s
safety. They should wear comfortable clothing. Art students should wear
play clothes that can get messy.
My child wants
to be in the same class with a friend that is older…is this possible?
Generally this is not allowed. We have spent 20 years refining the age
group and level of difficultly for each class. It is very difficult to
integrate a younger student into an older class without impairing the
level of that class….even if the
student is “gifted.”
My child will
not be able to perform in the end of semester concert…is this a problem?
YES! The children are often paired or grouped in different musical
numbers. If a child is not going to be in the performance it ruins
choreography and leaves other students without partners. Please check the
dates of the concerts before you enroll for the semester.
What if my
child has to miss more than the 3 allowed rehearsals a semester due to
sports
or other conflicts?
We are always willing to work around sports… to a point. We ask that
you try to make at least part of every rehearsal. If it becomes evident
that your child is missing more than 1 rehearsal a month, it may be
necessary for them to sit out of some of the numbers during the concert.
This decision will be made based on how well the child is making up the
missed material and how their absence impacts the rest of the group.
Are parents
allowed to observe class?
Parents are allowed to observe their child’s first day of class ONLY.
After that we ask that parents not sit in as it makes it difficult for the
children to concentrate. The Hip Hop classroom is very small so we ask
that parents NOT bring siblings into that class if they plan to observe
the first day.
What are the
recital fees for?
Recital fees are charged to cover performance expenses such as: rental of
space, musicians, props, insurances, lighting and sound special needs,
instrument rental and additional technical staff.
If my child
drops out during the semester will
recital fees and costume fees be refunded?
No refunds will be made after the first 30 days
of the semester.
